Gotta have some hustle.
Marcus Costello was looking for an advertising job a couple years ago and after sending numerous resumes to employers, he realized he needed to get creative with his job hunt. After getting his creative juices flowing, he thought sending personalized beer with his information on it would be the perfect medium to get him interviews. The front of the bottle featured his name, the text “A Refreshing Change” and “EST 1988” (Costello’s year of birth). On the back it says “Marcus Costello Ingredients” with a list of his skills and attributes. To top off the beer, he edited the alcohol percentage to say “100% effort.”
Apparently a couple week later, Costello heard that his campaign was a brilliant idea from the companies he sent the beer resume to and landed several job interviews.
I would have been completely surprised if Costello didn’t land a single interview. This campaign is great; it’s creative and original. Plus, advertising agencies love beer, so what kind of ad agency wouldn’t offer someone who gave them a free beer an interview?
